Data deletion

You can remove Xenon Social's access to your social accounts and have your data deleted at any time. Here's how, and what happens. If you don't use Xenon Social but Xenon Listening collected your posts or comments, you can have them deleted too.

Last updated October 16, 2026

Option 1: Remove access on Instagram, Facebook or Threads

You can remove Xenon Social from your Meta account settings and ask Meta to have us delete the information we received:

  1. Open the settings for apps connected to your account: in Facebook, go to Settings & privacy → Settings → Business integrations; in Instagram, go to Settings → Website permissions → Apps and websites; in Threads, go to Settings → Account → Website permissions.
  2. Find Xenon Social and choose Remove. Meta tells us, usually straight away, and we disconnect every account connected to Xenon Social with your login, delete their access tokens and delete the comments and mentions we collected from them. If any of them still appears under Accounts in Xenon Social, disconnect it there too (option 2).
  3. To have their profile details erased too, open Xenon Social in the list of removed apps and send a data deletion request (Meta may offer this as part of removing the app).

When we receive a deletion request, we erase the account’s username, name and profile picture, including from the activity log, webhook records and notifications, and delete the comments and mentions we collected from it. If the account belonged to a workspace that was already deleted, your organization’s activity log can still show its username or name; ask us under option 3 to erase it. We also delete the statistics stored for its posts and its daily follower counts, and stop reading new ones. Emails sent before then can still show the account’s username or name. Meta gives you a confirmation code with a link to check the request’s status. If you only commented on or mentioned an account that uses Xenon Social, see If you don’t use Xenon Social.

Option 2: Disconnect in Xenon Social

In the dashboard, open Accounts, choose the account and select Disconnect. Its access tokens are deleted immediately and nothing more can be published to it. The comments and mentions Xenon Listening collected from it are deleted too. We stop reading its statistics. Those already stored stay: LinkedIn’s until 365 days after we last refreshed them, and Instagram, Facebook and Threads statistics until the workspace is deleted. The dashboard keeps showing their figures in the meantime.

When you disconnect a Facebook Page or a YouTube channel, we also ask Facebook or Google to remove Xenon Social’s access. That can end our access to every account connected with the same Facebook or Google login, so we don’t ask if another account connected to Xenon Social, in any workspace, uses that login, or might because we don’t know which login connected it. We also don’t ask if we don’t know which login was used for the account you disconnect. If Facebook or Google refuses or doesn’t answer, we still disconnect the account and delete its tokens, and keep asking for up to 7 days. For a YouTube channel, we keep a copy of its token, encrypted, only for that. We stop asking if an account using the same login is connected again. The dashboard tells you when our access may remain. To be sure our access has ended, the person who connected the account can remove Xenon Social in their Facebook settings (see option 1) or Google security settings. That ends our access to every account connected with their login.

Disconnecting an Instagram, Threads or LinkedIn account doesn’t remove Xenon Social from that network’s settings. Option 1 explains how to remove it from Instagram or Threads. For LinkedIn, you can also remove Xenon Social under Settings → Data privacy → Permitted services in LinkedIn. LinkedIn and Google don’t tell us when you remove our access in their settings, so disconnect the account in Xenon Social as well. Either way, we keep LinkedIn comments for no longer than 48 hours and YouTube comments for no longer than 30 days.

Disconnecting keeps the account’s username, name and profile picture so your workspace’s post history stays readable. A YouTube channel is the exception: we erase them when you disconnect it, or when we find that our access to it has stopped working (for example, because you removed our access in your Google security settings). We also remove its username and name from notifications, webhook records and the audit log. Emails already sent can still show them. To have other accounts’ profile details erased too, use option 1 (for Instagram, Facebook or Threads) or option 3.

Option 3: Ask us to delete everything

Email info@tech-xenon.com from the address you sign in with, and tell us what you’d like deleted: your Xenon Social account, specific connected accounts, or the posts, media and Xenon Listening data in workspaces you own. We’ll confirm your identity, complete the request within 30 days (7 days for YouTube data) and let you know when it’s done. Deleting YouTube data from Xenon Social doesn’t delete anything on YouTube itself. To delete your data on YouTube, use YouTube or another app you’ve authorized that can delete it.

Delete a workspace

A workspace owner can delete a workspace under Settings → Workspace by typing its name, and an API application your organization gave permission to delete workspaces can delete one too. The workspace disappears for everyone straight away, and posts in it that haven’t started publishing are cancelled. Then, once nothing in it is still publishing or processing, we:

  • disconnect its accounts as option 2 describes, including asking Facebook or Google to remove our access when option 2 says we do, and delete their access tokens;
  • delete its posts, with their publishing results, approvals and statistics, and its media files;
  • delete its connected accounts, with their profile details, the ID of the person who connected each one and their follower counts;
  • delete its members, invitations, notifications, audit log, the webhook endpoints set up in it, its event and delivery records, its email records and the access it gave to API applications.

Some records stay with the organization: its activity log, including a record of the deletion (the workspace’s name, how much it held, and who deleted it, from which IP address) and of each account it disconnected, with the account’s username or name (except for a YouTube channel); usage records that count its posts toward the organization’s plan; and the organization itself, with its members, plan and API applications. Posts already published stay on the networks, and webhook events already delivered and emails already sent can’t be recalled. Deleting a workspace doesn’t remove Xenon Social from Instagram, Threads or LinkedIn settings; options 1 and 2 explain how. To delete your Xenon Social account, ask us under option 3.

If you don’t use Xenon Social

If a workspace uses Xenon Listening, it may have collected your public posts, or comments you left on its accounts (our Privacy Policy explains what and why). To have them deleted, or to object to their collection, email info@tech-xenon.com with links to the posts or comments, or your handle or name on each network. We’ll delete them from every workspace that collected them, within 7 days for YouTube data and 30 days for everything else, and let you know when it’s done. This doesn’t remove them from the network, or delete copies already sent to Anthropic for AI labels, which Anthropic deletes on its own schedule (see AI labels).

Listening finds posts automatically, so a post you publish later may be collected if it matches a workspace’s topics. Tell us if that happens and we’ll delete it too.

Deleting a post or comment on the network doesn’t delete our copy, except on Bluesky. Our copies are still deleted on schedule: LinkedIn comments within 48 hours of our collecting them and YouTube comments and videos within 30 days. Everything else is deleted about 365 days after it was posted.

Bluesky. We read public Bluesky posts without an account, so there’s nothing to disconnect. When Bluesky reports that you deleted a post, or that your account was deleted or deactivated, we delete what we collected. We apply these reports as Bluesky’s live stream sends them, so we can miss a change made while we weren’t reading it. We don’t collect posts by people who use Bluesky’s setting that discourages apps from showing their account to logged-out users, and if you turn it on, we stop collecting your new posts within about an hour. To remove posts we already have, email us.

Posts that were already published stay on Instagram, Facebook, Threads or LinkedIn. Delete them there if you want them gone. Posts and media belong to the workspace they were created in. Workspace members who can edit posts (editors, admins and owners) can delete media and posts that were never published, and a workspace owner can delete the whole workspace. A post that was published to any network stays in the workspace until the workspace is deleted, unless you ask us to delete it under option 3. Its statistics stay with it, unless a deletion request through Meta removed them.

Xenon Listening data belongs to the workspace too. An owner or admin can delete a topic, which deletes the public posts no other topic matches, or disconnect an account, which deletes its comments and mentions. To delete anything else, ask us under option 3. Deleting Listening data doesn’t delete copies already sent to Anthropic for AI labels; Anthropic deletes those on its own schedule.

See our Privacy Policy for how long other information is kept.

Check a deletion request

If Meta gave you a confirmation code, the link that came with it opens a status page showing whether your request is complete and how many accounts it affected. Lost the link? Email us the code at info@tech-xenon.com.
